OBITUARY OF JOHN F. ALSIP

Funeral services for John Franklin Alsip, 86, retired Western General Manager of Northern Pacific Railway, of Seahurst, will be at 1 o’clock Wednesday at the Buckley-King Chapel, Tacoma. Burial will be in the Tacoma Cemetery. He died Saturday in a Tacoma hospital. Mr. Alsip was born in a covered wagon en route from Kentucky to Illinois. He went from Hoisington, Kansas to Tacoma in 1909, where he was a dispatcher for Northern Pacific. He later became Superintendent of the Tacoma Division. In 1942, Mr. Alsip moved to Seattle, where he became assistant general manager and in 1946, general manager. He moved to Seahurst after his retirement in 1954. Mr. Alsip was a member of the Seattle First Methodist Church, Burien Rotary Club and the Northern Pacific Veteran’s Association. Surviving are his wife, Jane; two sons, John F. Alsip, Jr., of Nampa, Idaho, and William R. Alsip, Temple City, Calif., and a daughter, Mrs. Earl Brantner, Day Island, Pierce County.
