Born April 11, 1912, in Corbin, Ky., he was the son of John and Jane Sexton Alsip, the youngest of 12 children. On Oct. 20, 1930, he married Mattie Allen. He is survived by a brother, Joe Alsip, 97, of Frankfort, Ky.; a sister, Mary Monhollan, 95, of Smyrna Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Betty Elliott and her husband, Glen, of Clinton, June Adcox and her husband, Raymond, of Oak Ridge; a son; Michael D. Aslip of Jonesboro, Ga.; seven grandchildren, including Lesa Maddux and her husband, Kenny, of Andersonville; and nine great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Alsip, in 1993.
